In August, the Los Angeles Dodgers will retire Fernando Valenzuela's legendary #34, recognizing his influential impact and legacy in LA over a 3-day Fernandomania celebration. The birth of the Fernandomania phenomenon took place in the '81 season, as Valenzuela became the first rookie to lead the National League in strikeouts, first player to win the Rookie of the Year Award and Cy Young Award in the same season, and helped the Dodgers win the World Series.
